Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Disha Counselling & Wellness Centre (“Disha,” “we,” “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us, whether you are browsing this website, booking an appointment, or receiving counselling services from us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, phone number, email address, and any details you share through our website contact and intake forms, by phone, or when booking an appointment through our online scheduling system (Jane App). If you become a client, your counsellor will also collect clinical information relevant to your care, in accordance with professional and regulatory standards for social workers and counsellors in Alberta.

Like most websites, we may also automatically collect limited technical information, such as your browser type, device, and how you interact with our site, through standard analytics tools. This information is used only to understand and improve the website and is not used to identify you personally.

Confidentiality of Counselling Records

Information shared during counselling sessions is confidential and is protected under professional codes of ethics and Alberta privacy law. Your clinical records are kept separately from general website or marketing data and are only accessed by your treating clinician and, where required, administrative staff involved in your care or billing. We do not disclose information about your counselling without your consent, except where we are required or permitted to do so by law — for example, where there is a risk of serious harm to you or another person, or where disclosure is required by a court or regulatory body. Your counsellor can explain these limits to confidentiality in more detail at the start of your care.

How We Use Your Information

  • To schedule, confirm and manage appointments
  • To provide counselling, assessment and related services
  • To communicate with you about your care, billing or account
  • To process direct billing with your insurance provider, where applicable
  • To respond to inquiries submitted through our contact forms
  • To meet our legal, regulatory and professional record-keeping obligations

Third-Party Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to help operate our practice, including an online booking platform (Jane App) for scheduling appointments, and payment processing for session fees. Where we bill your insurance provider directly on your behalf, limited information is shared with that insurer as required to process your claim. These providers are only given the information necessary to perform their function and are expected to protect your information appropriately.

Cookies & Website Analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences and to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some website functionality but will not affect your ability to contact us or book an appointment by phone.

Data Retention & Security

We retain personal and clinical information only for as long as necessary to provide our services and to meet our legal, professional and regulatory record-keeping requirements. We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss or disclosure.

Your Rights

Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and applicable Canadian privacy law, you generally have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections where it is inaccurate or incomplete. To make a request, please contact us using the details below.

Children’s Privacy

Where we provide counselling to children or youth, information is collected and used in accordance with applicable consent requirements for minors under Alberta law, and in consultation with a parent or guardian as appropriate to the client’s age and circumstances.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
