Quick answer
At Disha Counselling & Wellness Centre there are several ways to make counselling affordable. Eligible First Nations and Inuit clients approved under NIHB, and eligible refugees and refugee claimants with IFHP coverage, receive counselling at no cost because we bill the federal program directly. If you have a low income, no insurance coverage or are facing hardship, you can ask about our sliding scale. Many people also use workplace benefits, which we can often direct bill.
Not sure which option fits? Call us. We will talk it through confidentially and help you find the most affordable way to start.
Ways to pay
Most clients use one of these options. We are happy to help you check which applies to you.
If you have a status card and are approved under the Non-Insured Health Benefits program, counselling is free. We bill NIHB directly and charge no additional fee.
Refugees and refugee claimants with active Interim Federal Health Program coverage can receive counselling at no cost, billed directly to the program.
For clients with a low income, no insurance coverage or financial hardship. Reduced fees are agreed case by case in a confidential conversation.
We direct bill select providers, including Alberta Blue Cross, Canada Life, GreenShield, Manulife and others. Many plans cover a Registered Clinical Social Worker.
Many employers, unions and student plans include counselling benefits or an Employee and Family Assistance Program. Check your benefits booklet.
Groups can be a lower-cost way to get support while learning from others with similar experiences.
