Quick answer

What is family therapy?

Family therapy is counselling that works with a family as a whole to improve communication, resolve conflict and support each member’s wellbeing. Rather than focusing on one person as the problem, it looks at the patterns between family members and helps everyone respond to each other in healthier ways.

Family can mean parents and children, couples, siblings, extended family or blended families. Sessions can include everyone or just some members.
